Description

Originating from slow-moving streams in Southeast Asia, this peaceful schooling fish thrives in a community aquarium, where its lively swimming adds vibrancy to the tank.

Pearl Danios are hardy and undemanding, making them perfect for aquarists of all experience levels. They require a minimum tank size of 60 litres with plenty of swimming space and some planted areas for hiding. These fish thrive in groups of six or more, which helps to reduce stress and showcase their natural schooling behaviour. A varied diet of high-quality flakes, small pellets, and frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp or daphnia ensures they stay healthy and vibrant. Breeding Pearl Danios in a controlled environment can be rewarding; they scatter their eggs among fine-leaved plants or spawning mops, and fry hatch within 2–3 days.
